Walmart and Free Rein Coffee Honor Veterans and U.S. Manufacturing on Capitol Hill
Walmart and Free Rein Coffee, co-founded by actor and veteran advocate Cole Hauser, recently hosted a coffee giveaway event on Capitol Hill to honor veterans and spotlight Walmart’s dedication to American-made products. The event, part of Walmart’s annual U.S. Manufacturing Fly-In, took place at the Capitol Complex, offering veterans complimentary coffee from Free Rein Coffee, a brand deeply connected to the veteran community.
Cole Hauser, known for his role in the TV series Yellowstone, personally served coffee to veterans, expressing his passion for supporting veterans, first responders, and other essential workers. Melody Richard, SVP of Merchandising at Walmart, reiterated the company’s commitment to U.S. manufacturing, noting Walmart’s goal to invest $350 billion in American-made products by 2021, with over two-thirds of Walmart’s inventory sourced from the U.S.
The event also featured remarks from Sean Corrigan, a retired Colonel and Executive Vice President of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and Rye Barcott, a U.S. Marine veteran and CEO of With Honor, both praising Walmart and Free Rein Coffee for their support of veterans and American manufacturing. Walmart’s annual fly-in event underscores its 40-year legacy in American manufacturing, with this year’s gathering including meetings with lawmakers to discuss further commitments to U.S.-made products.
In addition to the coffee giveaway, Walmart announced the opening of applications for its 12th annual Open Call, a pitch event for U.S. entrepreneurs to showcase their products to Walmart leaders. This initiative reflects Walmart’s ongoing efforts to support small businesses and American manufacturing, with 15 entrepreneurs from the greater DMV area invited to participate in this year’s Open Call event at Walmart’s headquarters.
